01/24/2016: Message from Dr. Bozenna Pasik-Duncan, IFAC Technical Board Liaison to Education


A very happy and healthy new year to each and everyone!

It has been sometime since we were in touch. Many educational events have been held during the last few months. I will be sending you follow up messages asking for your active involvement in the exciting project for this year: “Education Matters! Let Us Do It”. I have big plans for us for the 2017 IFAC World Congress for which preparations have started therefore we also need to start warm up activities. Let us do it!

The purpose of today urgent message is to call for your participation in the ACE 2016 with the contribution submission deadline extended to February 15.

I would like to invite you to our First Meeting at the following event:

The First IFAC Workshop on "Integrating Teaching and Research at All Levels in Promoting Control as a Field that Spans Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)"

Organizers: Bozenna Pasik-Duncan, Anthony Rositter

The IFAC TC Education Liaisons who represent technical committees will be invited to present at this workshop with its purpose to make a significant change in bringing the important visibility to integrating closely research and education. " We all do education" in our progressive innovative methods of teaching that involve introducing research engagement of students at all levels: high school, undergraduate, graduate and beyond.

The workshop is open to all participants from universities and industry wishing to make contributions to better understanding of the role of integrating teaching and research in education and in the society. The participants of the workshop are required to register in the ACE16 Symposium and to prepare a "short paper" (min 4 pages) following the IFAC POL guides. All submitted papers will be reviewed according to IFAC rules.

Please let me know whether you can attend the event and prepare a "short paper" for this workshop to be presented with my understanding that this short paper will be your collective effort with other members of the technical committee which you represent. I ask you kindly to take leadership and announce this workshop with its purpose and goals in your committees.

I will follow up on this announcement and message in a few days. I would like to hear from you by Monday, February 1.
